FROM OUR HEADMASTER

Steve Kitchens

Dear WCA Family,

Every school year, WCA students take school trips as part of their educational and spiritual development.  This past Thursday morning, Mrs. Stone's 4th grade class went to St. Augustine for their "Florida History" trip.  This "rite of passage" for 4th graders is their first overnight school trip and it is a lot of fun.  This year Mr. Tacquard went on the trip as an administrator and father, his daughter Tiffany is in the 4th grade.

Mrs. Bigio's 5th grade class will take their overnight trip to the Florida Keys for Sea Camp on April 25 to 27.  This trip as you can imagine is a class favorite for learning, swimming, snorkeling and getting some sun (hopefully not too much)!  Mrs. Bigio, the students and all the chaperones say this trip is a great educational and fun experience.

In March, the Middle School classes will be going on their trips.  The 6th and 7th graders will be going to Lake Placid for their Spiritual Retreat, March 26 to 29.  Mr. Tacquard, Mr. Noonan and Coach Parker will be leading the trip.  Also, during the same week, March 26 to 30, the 8th graders will be going on their mission trip to the Dominican Republic.  Mrs. Kelly Amato is leading this trip and my wife, Bradley, and I also will be going on the trip.

I want to thank the teachers and parents who serve as chaperones on these trips.  Your support, leadership and prayers help make our trips safe and successful.  Please continue to pray for all of our students, school trips and all the activities of our school.  Thank you for all you do to make WCA the best we can be to God's glory.

Blessings to you and your family in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

 Steve

COACH'S CORNER

Hello Sports Fans,

The boys 7th and 8th grade basketball team had a rough start to the week this week, losing back to back games on Monday and Tuesday.  Surely the injury bug that has been biting hasn't helped, but they are looking to bounce back strong when travel to St. Marks next Thursday at 4:00.  Our 5th and 6th grade team practiced hard this week and will be travelling to Somerset Pines on the same day.  Our cheerleading squad has done an excellent job encouraging our boys and delighting our fans with their spirit-filled cheers and creative half time show.

Try-outs for boys baseball, girls softball, and coed tennis will begin Monday, March 5th right after school.  Mark your calendars!
