Drama

Published July 28, 2010

Drama serves as an opportunity for students to tap into their own creativity, gain self-confidence and experience working collaboratively with others. It also develops critical listening and viewing skills—qualities that will serve the student well no matter where their future takes them. Students at Weston Christian Academy develop these skills and gifts in an environment that maintains a biblical worldview, nurtures a Christ-like attitude, and desires to develop Christian character among its participants.

Students from early on in their education get an opportunity to participate in drama productions through leading fall and spring chapels, participating in the Christmas production, Grandparent’s day chapel, as well as other opportunities like Evening of the Arts and K5 Graduation. Through numerous opportunities throughout their years at WCA, students become comfortable being on stage in front of an audience.

Once in middle school, Weston Christian Academy’s drama department has additional opportunities to develop their dramatic skills both on stage and off. They not only learn how much hard work is put in planning a major production, but also get a chance to audition for a part. It is a rewarding experience for everyone involved. In the past few years they have performed titles like: “Godspell Junior”, “Doowop Wed Widing Hood”, “School House Rock Live Jr”, and “Fiddler on the Roof Jr.”

Weston Christian Academy also has the honor of having a Junior Thespian Honor Society which recognizes those students who excel in all areas of theatre production. They are also involved in district and state competitions.
